The prices vary depending on the level of the course and may be between PLN 2500 gross to PLN 3200 gross for the whole year (24 meetings 90 min each), payable in three or four equal instalments during the year. Please contact LEC to learn the prices for a new academic year 2022/23.
What does the course fee include?
The course fee includes: copyrighted course materials, the Mock Exam (in mid April), any supplementary materials handed out during the meetings, access to the chosen materials and exercises on the Legal English Boost platform consultation in case of absences. The course fee does not include the TOLES examination fee.
When does the course start and finish?
The academic year starts in the second week of October. We usually finish at the end of April or beginning of May.
Can I join the group later?
Yes, however no later than the third meeting.
How can I enrol on the course?
First, I invite you to a short meeting and then we decide on a proper level of the course.
Which level of legal English should I choose?
The choice of a group depends on a few factors: your level of general English, prior contact with legal English, current contact with the language (working with English-speaking clients), etc. During the qualifying interview all your questions are answered.
How intensive is the course? Are there any tests?
At each level we have 24 weekly meetings (90 minutes). There are regular oral and written quick checks every meeting, a semester test and the Mock Exam (in mid April).
What happens during the lessons? Do I study British or Polish law?
The texts for self-study describe the British legal reality and prepare you for the examination at a given level. However, during our meetings we discuss different legal issues useful for the workplace in a Polish law firm. The necessary vocabulary is included in the Homework Assignment and handed out one week earlier.
When is the TOLES examination? Do I have to sit it just after completing the course?
Each year there are 5 examination sessions. You can take any one that suits you. To find out the dates for 2023, visit: here.
Can I take the TOLES exam without the preparation course at LEC?
Yes, assuming that you manage to collect and memorise the vocabulary from 8-12 areas of law (depending on the exam level) on your own. You can find all the self-study materials and exercises on: www.legalenglishboost.com
Do courses prepare only for the TOLES exams?
Although the focus is on the exam preparation, from Day 1 students master skills required in a Polish law firm environment.
Are there any non-examination legal English courses?
Yes, however such courses are always organised on demand, for a group of minimum 3 students. The group creates their own syllabus: drafting contracts, vocabulary from specific legal areas, conversations or negotiation scenarios.
How many students are there in a group? Can I change the group during the academic year?
You learn in a very comfortable group of between 3 to 6 students. You can always change the group if there are no more than 6 people in a group of your choice.
